Make New Friends

Have you heard the saying, “Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver, and the other gold?”

Today, have some gusto and introduce yourself to someone new. Someone who seems like (s)he needs a friend him/herself. Someone who seems like (s)he needs someone to talk to. You can surprise yourself in doing this – you can discover you may have a lot in common with each other.

Don’t let that bully fool you – not all people are mean or abusive. There are nice people in this world. Someone as nice as you deserves and needs new, nice people around yourself. Next thing you know, you will be calling this new friend of yours you sister or brother, mom or dad (depending how old this new friend of yours is).

I have done this, and I can tell you once you let down your guard and let some nice people into your life, you will be amazed how well people can be nice towards to you and can become your family. They will be there for you for the rest of your life, through thick and thin, ready to love you for who you are and defend you at a moments notice.

Don’t hide yourself in a corner today. Step out into the light, breathe a deep sigh, and say “hello” to someone new. Don’t forget to smile when you do. Your smile reveals a lot about you and your character.
