Power of Self-Acceptance
Self-Acceptance Defined:
Wikipedia.org defines self-acceptance as “According to Shepard (1979), self-acceptance is an individual’s satisfaction or happiness with oneself, and is thought to be necessary for good mental health. Self-acceptance involves self-understanding, a realistic, albeit subjective, awareness of one’s strengths and weaknesses.”
Personal Development Defined:
Wikipedia.org defines personal development as “activities that improve awareness and identity, develop talents and potential, build human capital and facilitate employability, enhance quality of life and contribute to the realization of dreams and aspirations.”
Self-Acceptance = Personal Development
The power of self-acceptance will make you a stronger person than you could ever be. Self-acceptance makes you understand your thoughts, your flaws, your negativity, your strengths, your attitudes, your attributes, and your character. When you accept all of these, you are more at peace with yourself; you are more in tune to who you are, and you love yourself for who you are. You will not change for any one but yourself. When you do decide and believe that you do need to change for yourself, you become more aware of you and your surroundings and improve upon that. This leads to personal development.
Self-Acceptance + Personal Development + Victims of Bullying = The Power of Peace within Yourself
It takes baby steps to accept yourself and love yourself after being a victim of bullying, because the words and actions of a bully can really scar you for life. Some people survive; others don’t. For those who do, you believed in yourself to get through it for several reasons:
1). You had support to get through it.
2). Because you were smart enough to report it.
3). Because your gut instincts and inner beliefs told you to.
4). You know too well and are smart enough to know the difference between right and wrong.
In Conclusion:
Self-acceptance is a step forward in the right direction for you to make. Your inner-self tells you to make this decision because you believe in yourself and know who you truly are. You know well enough to know bullies are insecure of themselves so they need to find someone to pick on to make themselves feel superior over others, and you will not fall victim anymore. Great for you! Isn’t it an AMAZING feeling you now have within yourself?
